MultiChoice South Africa


MultiChoice South Africa started as the subscriber management division of M-Net in South Africa more than 25 years ago. Today it is the leading pay-TV operator in South Africa and home to some of the most well-known brands in the country such as MWEB, SuperSport, M-Net and DStv.

MultiChoice sources channels from around the world, as well as channels produced in South Africa, which are put into packages to suit a variety of viewing tastes and pockets. These range from basic to premium, as well as niche packages for the Indian and Portuguese communities. Through DStv it offers entertainment everywhere thanks to value-added services such as DStv Mobile, DStv Catch Up and BoxOffice.

MultiChoice constantly seeks to enhance its customers' viewing experience. The company has a long history of introducing cutting-edge technology, such as the dual-view decoder, DStv Explora, high-definition channels and mobile television.

During the past year, the net subscriber base grew by 388,495 customers (or 8% to close at 5.6 million households at 30 September 2015. The Compact bouquet accounted for the bulk of the growth, whilst the Premium base remained stable and the popular BoxOffice VOD service averaged monthly rentals of 600,000 movies.
